How adaptive NCLEX-RN practice works

Choose mixed practice or focus on one of the eight NCSBN client-needs categories. PulseRN uses your answered questions to estimate a working ability level and select future practice. That estimate is used only to guide study activity inside PulseRN; it is not an official NCLEX score.

After you commit to an answer, you can review the rationale and use the AI tutor for another explanation. Flashcards add an active-recall step before the answer is shown, then return on calendar dates through spaced repetition. Unfolding cases let you work through changing clinical records and connect cues, hypotheses, actions, and outcomes.

Next Generation NCLEX practice

PulseRN includes standard multiple choice and seven Next Generation formats: bow-tie, matrix, cloze, highlight, drag-and-drop, multiple response, and dosage calculation. These are original educational practice items. PulseRN does not use, reproduce, or claim access to live NCLEX questions.

Free sample questions with rationales

Try five-question public sets for pharmacology, prioritization, dosage calculations, and NGN bow-tie items. Each set publishes its sources and clinical-review status.

Readiness self-assessments and limitations

Paid plans include a stated number of standardized 85-question readiness self-assessments. A form is never repeated for the same account. The resulting readiness signal is deliberately labeled as an estimate and never predicts or guarantees an exam outcome. A learner should combine it with instructor guidance, course performance, and other evidence.

Human-owned nursing content

PulseRN was created by Sheldon Bennett, RN, who is the clinical content owner and reviewer of record. AI may assist with content workflows and on-demand tutoring, but it is not the accountable author. Educational content is subject to automated checks and human review, and correction requests can be sent to sheldon@pulsern.app.
