PulseRN: NCLEX-RN prep engineered around how you learn

Built by a working hospital RN, for future RNs.

PulseRN was built by Sheldon Bennett, a working hospital RN, and engineered around how people actually learn and remember under pressure. Every session starts with a question, not a lecture. What you miss comes back right before you'd forget it. Adaptive practice finds your weak spots and works them until they're strengths. A Today round and a weekly plan are built around your exam date. It's built to get you ready to walk into the NCLEX confident.

Retrieval practice

You learn by pulling the answer out of memory. You commit to an answer, then read the rationale. Flashcards ask you to recall before the answer is shown. It's the same loop in the Today round, in practice sessions, and on the cards.

Spaced repetition

What you miss comes back on a real calendar date, right before you'd forget it, so it's there on exam day. Cards you know move further out. Cards you miss stay close. The schedule is the study plan.

Adaptive practice

PulseRN finds your weak spots across the eight NCSBN client-needs categories and works them until they're strengths. Question difficulty follows your answers: each answer updates an estimate of your level, and that estimate guides the next item.

A plan for each day

The Today round is one focused session: due flashcards, then adaptive questions, with the next action in view. Set an exam date and the weekly plan is built around it, so you always know what to do next. The lab reference opens over the question, so you can check a value without leaving it.

Visual study cards

Six concepts are drawn so they click: ABG interpretation, potassium and the ECG changes that go with it, IV fluid tonicity, insulin onset and peak, isolation precautions, and pressure-injury stages. They appear with the questions that use them.

The study library

The library includes 10,000+ practice questions, 500+ case studies, and 1,100+ flashcards, with dosage calculation practice and an AI tutor when you want another explanation. Case studies follow the NCSBN clinical judgment measurement model. Practice items are original. PulseRN does not use, reproduce, or claim access to live NCLEX questions.

Free sample questions

Try the 20-question free NCLEX-RN practice test hub, or open a five-question set for pharmacology, prioritization, dosage calculations, or NGN bow-tie items. Each public set shows the answer, the rationale, and the sources it was written against.

Readiness is an estimate

Paid plans include a set number of standardized 85-question readiness self-assessments. Each form is shown once per account. Readiness is an estimate built from your work in PulseRN. It shows you what to practice next. No prep program can guarantee an exam result.

How the content is built

PulseRN was built by Sheldon Bennett, a working hospital RN. Practice questions, case studies, flashcards, and readiness items are built around NCSBN's published test plan and pass automated quality checks before they go live. Public study guides are source-cited and approved by Sheldon Bennett, RN. Correction requests can be sent to sheldon@pulsern.app.

Compare NCLEX preparation by fit

Read dated, provider-sourced comparisons for PulseRN vs UWorld, PulseRN vs Archer Review, and PulseRN vs Kaplan. The comparison hub also covers question banks, affordable preparation, and repeat-test-taker needs. PulseRN discloses its commercial interest, uses no affiliate ranking, and does not name a universal winner.

Free and paid access

A new account can use a 7-day free pass for study content without entering a credit card. Paid access periods range from 30 to 730 days and include the number of readiness self-assessments shown on the public pricing page. Pricing is listed in U.S. dollars.
